As with any images and source links, the applet path links can be modified by some html editors when dragging files across folders.

For example in FrontPage, when you highlight a file and then drag it to another folder, FrontPage will alter the link references automatically. If you are using a fixed codebase statement in the applet parameters it may be altered and will need to be checked and corrected.

Unless you are careful with your method you may end up with alterations that are unwanted. The parameters to check are "codebase" and the "image-name".

Working with Frontpage:
****************************
If you have new applet images and you want to add their applets to existing pages while using FrontPage live (logged into your site), upload the new pages to the same folder as those existing pages. Then you can simply copy'n'paste without getting into trouble.

It is possible to ignore this method if you are careful not to "allow hyperlink updates" to your pages when moving files around.

Uploading with Frontpage:
******************************
Our guys have been using Frontpage for several years with sites that contain thousands of pages and images. And although there are many options for uploading new content, the best one used which has never caused any "update" problems is quite simple and as follows:

First use Frontpage to open your site on the web...

Select File > Open Web. An index window will appear and then you type the URL of the web site into the address field at the bottom: http://www.yourSite.com (you must include the http://)

You will be promted for your Username and Password, which you enter and then hit the Open button. When using Frontpage live on your site you only need to see two windows, one on the left for an index of your site's pages, and a second larger window for viewing the web pages in WYSIWYG view when opened (or a detailed folder index in "Folder view"). Any other windows appearing in your Frontpage are a waste of space. Close them.

Now say you want upload a batch of files to a folder on your site called "gallery"... go the file directory on your local computer, select all the files to be uploaded (or complete folders) and copy them to the clipboard (right mouse click > Copy).

Then return to your Frontpage browser, select or highlight the folder called "gallery" and Paste (right mouse click > paste). Then the folders will be uploaded from your local drive to your web site.

When you get the hang of the method above and need to move quicker, you can try the following method:

Select images on your local drive, then Ctrl C
Select folder on your site, then Ctrl V

To select all files in view, Ctrl A

Help, I'm using Frontpage. What should the Applet source and Applet base url be. When I look in preview it tells me that it can't locate the class file. Not knowing anything about applets or Java. Any and all help would be great. Also do I insert a applet onto the page I would like the image to be displayed on, if so I know it has to be the same size, but once again what is the applet source and the applet base url. HELP

Most registered applets won't operate in Frontpage 'preview mode' because they need to run online.
