ArtistScope programs will display/encrypt all JPG and GIF files. In fact Pro and CopySafe will also encrypt and display most Animated Gifs. However the images must be in good condition and not over-compressed.

The programs will load your images from your hard drive, and when you click "save", they will create an encrypted version and save it to your project folder (leaving the originals intact).

Although the programs can scale your images to a larger or smaller size, some consideration should be given to their preparation beforehand. For example, even though an image may be scaled down by as much as 50%, it will not change the file size. So the image should first be sized to roughly what you need before encrypting. Then the scaling feature can be used for tweaking a final fit.

Also, the image resolution must also be checked. If you are entertaining Mac users, you need to know that their monitor resolution is usually 96 dpi. The rest of the world, the 98% who are using PC systems mostly have a monitor that is only 72 dpi. Please consider these facts as download times are important to keeping the interest of your visitors.

Any image larger than 40k can slow down page downloads to the average Internet user. Image files larger than 100k, and you are inviting the viewer to move on without waiting to see your image.

Creating thumbnails:
***********************
If you use ArtistScope programs to create thumbnails of images that are currently full size, be warned that their file size will NOT be reduced.

If your need to encrypt yor thumbnails (an overkill), first create your thumbnails in one of the many programs specially designed for creating thumbs and optimizing their file size.

Our systems will not import faulty images into the workplace.

Nor will they import over-compressed images because they will not survive the encryption process. When importing images our systems sort the files in the folder selected and only import those recognized as Jpg and Gif images (including animated Gifs) and of suitable quality. So if you are having trouble getting an image to load into the program, this is what is happening.
