What is the largest image size I can display in Zoom Image, and the maximum file size that will work ok? . |

There is no limit to the physical dimensions of the image that can be used, or the size of the applet itself. However images larger than about 180k may cause problems at the visitor's browser end depending on how much ram they have... some have very little.
Ideally whatever size you want to display on your web page, the image should be larger in dimensions to allow for a quality appearance after zooming in. For example you can use a 600 x 600 pixel image in an applet set to display at 200x 200 pixels. Or you can use a 200 x 200 pixel image in the same sized applet, but with an image resolution of 300 dpi. Either method leaves potential for magnification. |
